Assistant Engagement and Transition Officer
Full Time - 37 Hours Per Week - Term Time Only
The Medical Needs Teaching Service (MNTS) provides education for children and young people who are unable to attend school because of medical needs, including emotional and mental health. Further information can be found on the MNTS tab website.
An opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Pupil Engagement and Transitions Officer to work within the MNTS based at Queenswood Education Centre (QEC) and in the community.
Purpose of the role:
• To facilitate the educational partnership between Medical Needs Teaching Service (MNTS), home, home school, health professionals and other services which may be involved.
• To assist on planning and implementing pupil transitions.
• To be a key member of the Safeguarding Team.
We are looking for a person who has experience of working in a secondary educational setting, and experience or an interest in mental health.
The person appointed will have an innovative, solution focussed and pragmatic approach to ensure that children and young people with medical/mental health needs access an appropriate educational provision.
The post involves multidisciplinary team working and close liaison with relevant professionals and parents/carers. Good communication and interpersonal skills, resilience, and an organised, calm empathetic manner are essential.
The role requires the post holder to work independently a variety of settings, in particular QEC, the home and school environments to develop, plan and participate in programmes or work with parents/carers/children/young people and other professionals. As such the post holder should have a driving licence and access to a car with business insurance, and be willing and able to drive across Leeds and surrounding areas.

Pay Grade: C1, Pt 12 to 17 (£21,589 to £23,836) pro rata
Contract type: Permanent, subject to a 6 months probationary period
