LYDE GREEN PRIMARY SCHOOL – ACCESS CENTRE
(This is a special school post and NOT a mainstream position. The children in the access centre do not access the mainstream provision due to the complexity of their needs).
27.5 hours per week, Term Time Only plus 5 INSET days
CSET GRADE 12, £12,050 per annum
Start Date – As soon as possible
We are looking for a Care Assistant to work in our KS1 Access Centre for pupils with autism. Many of our children have complex needs and many of them are pre-verbal.
This post requires a calm, positive, enthusiastic person who is supportive and can use their own initiative.
The successful applicant will need to have a flexible attitude and be willing to work with any of our pupils. This post is physical in nature and may present emotional and physical demands not common in mainstream schools.
This post is a temporary contract until 3rd October 2021, or the return of the post holder if earlier. The post is for 27.5 hours per week, term-time only plus 5 INSET days, CSET Grade 12 (£12,050 per annum). Hours of work Monday to Friday, 9.00 am – 3.00 pm, with 30 minutes for lunch.
Lyde Green Access Centre opened in September 2017. In the first year of operation we worked with 4 pupils, which then rose annually to a total of 12 Key Stage 1 children. This year we are extending our provision to provide early intervention education for an additional 4 pupils.
All children within our Access Centre have a primary diagnosis of ASD along with complex learning needs. Therefore the Access Centre will provide bespoke and expert provision to enable them to make progress. There are no expectations for our pupils to have any inclusion with the main school although we have this luxury should we feel it appropriate for individuals.
I would strongly recommend candidates contact Louise Wilcox to have an informal discussion about this post. Louise’s contact details are included within the letter to applicants attached.

Further details and additional information about our school may be viewed on our website. The school’s website address can be found within the letter to applicants.
Applications should be made by downloading and completing the CSET application form (a CV is not required). Completed application forms and a covering letter should be emailed to cset-recruitment. The email address is included within the letter to applicants.
Applications should be received by 9.00 am on Wednesday 10th March 2021 although we reserve the right to close the advert earlier than this date, should we receive a suitable number of high quality applicants.
Lyde Green Primary School is part of the Castle School Education Trust (CSET) so you will be a CSET employee, initially based at Lyde Green Primary.

Successful candidates are subject to child protection screening appropriate to the post, which will include an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check for the children’s workforce and a Children’s Barred List check.
Some roles may need to comply with the ‘Childcare Act 2006’ and the ‘Childcare (Disqualification) Regulations 2009’ where additional disclosure of information will be required.
