Start date: ideally February 2020, 20th April latest
Contract type: Full Time
Contract term: Permanent

Westbourne is a 2-18 independent school in Penarth, ranked #1 in the UK for the last 5 years running, in the Daily Telegraph smaller schools league tables and with an excellent ESTYN report in every category. We offer GCSEs and the International Baccalaureate (IB) in the sixth form. Average class sizes at IB are currently 8-10 students, and at GCSE about 16-18.
This is an incredible opportunity for an academic Chemistry teacher to challenge able students and be challenged themselves in an environment where students are happy at school and want to work hard at all times. The successful candidate will join a school currently celebrating its best year of success in its 120-year history – with fantastic external results.
You will be responsible primarily for teaching Chemistry up to higher level to our IB students, and the ideal candidate will also have some experience of delivering STEM.
A proven track record of teaching Chemistry at both GCSE & Sixth Form is a compulsory requirement of the successful candidate – ideally, experience teaching the IB would be preferred.
The successful candidate will also be expected to take responsibility for both Maths and Science areas of the curriculum, working closely with staff members of the faculty. The integration of STEM throughout the school will be an additional responsibility of the role, so further experience in this area would be preferable.
You should be a qualified teacher and have a passion for both teaching and learning. Additional responsibilities will be as a pastoral form tutor and to undertake a full teaching timetable, including planning, assessment, revision and parents’ evenings.
Westbourne Schools is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We particularly welcome applications from under represented groups including ethnicity, gender, transgender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religion.
