We need 3 Teachers for our expanding school
The Fusion Academy, a school for children and young people aged 7-19 with communication and interaction needs and/or autism, is within its second year of opening and is due to expand again from August 2022. We are located in a new purpose built school in Barwell. The Fusion Academy is part of a Multi Academy Trust called Open Thinking Partnership.
This is an exciting opportunity to change lives in a challenging but highly rewarding environment. Open Thinking Partnership is seeking to recruit a number of secondary trained Teachers, consideration will also be given to primary trained teachers who are able and willing to teach subjects within the secondary phase. All our teachers are committed and dedicated to helping establish and grow this school as an outstanding provision. If you are skilled and committed to adapting your teaching to meet the individual needs of students, come and join our team.
This year, we have 46 students and we will have at least 60 students next academic year including starting our Key Stage 4 provision. We will continue to grow until we reach our full capacity of 80 students aged 7-19.
Autism experience and understanding is an advantage but not essential as undertaking training will be an important part of the induction process.
A specialism in English or science would be an advantage, as would a willingness and ability to be flexible to teach other areas of the curriculum.
Applications for part-time Teachers may be considered.
Salary - MPS/UPS (depending on qualifications and experience) and SEN allowance .
The start date for one position is 25 April 2022 to teach some additional Key Stage 2 pupils who have started at the school very recently and to help us further develop the Key Stage 4 curriculum. Other positions will be starting in the new academic year on 25 August 2022.
What we need from you:
● Good team member and leader
...and above all a passion for providing a high quality education for young people with autism and/or communication and interaction difficulties.
The curriculum is being developed to respond to the individual needs of pupils, assisting them to build strategies to minimise the barriers to their learning, enabling them to access a mainstream curriculum within an adapted, nurturing, structured and supportive learning environment. You will be working with an innovative leader to help develop our growing school.
As a result of their special educational needs, many of our students will struggle with emotional regulation and this can lead to challenges. Candidates need to be prepared to adopt a problem-solving approach to the challenges that those young people present.
Successful candidates must be willing to undertake training prior to starting their new role. The post is subject to completion of a satisfactory 6 month probation period.
If you would like further information about the roles please contact the school office and they will arrange a mutually convenient time for you to speak to the Headteacher, Sarah Peck.
The closing date for applications is Wednesday 16th February 2022 at 12 noon
Interviews will take place on Tuesday 22nd February 2022.
