Lovelace Primary School requires a Clerk to the Governing Body from September 2019.
Lovelace is often described as a ‘hidden jewel’ on the edge of greenbelt in the Royal Borough of Kingston with excellent transport links.
The governors of Lovelace Primary School wish to appoint a highly organised and self-motivated clerk to join this outstanding school. The clerk is accountable to the governing board, working effectively with the chair of governors, and with the headteacher and other governors.
The clerk to the governors will ensure the smooth running of the governing board: preparing agendas and meeting papers, taking and distributing minutes, giving administrative support, keeping records and up to date information on policies and date of reviews, and providing procedural and legislative advice to the governing board. They must have excellent organisational, communication and ICT skills.
This is a part time role, covering four full governing board meetings and approximately 14 committee meetings per school year. Meetings are held in term time. Full governing board meetings are usually held in the evening with a 7.00pm start while committee meetings usually take place between 5:30 pm – 8:30pm on Wednesdays for 3 hours. The clerk is also expected to attend all relevant training events and briefings.
The clerk is paid through payroll for hours worked on a monthly basis and receives an included amount for annual leave. Hours payable include the whole meeting process (emails, calls and agenda preparation; writing up and distributing minutes) and training events. Estimated hours for the current year total approximately 132.
Please send completed applications forms by post or email. CV’s will not be accepted.
Lovelace Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
An enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) with barred list check is required for all successful applicants. Also, this post is likely to come under the requirements of the Childcare (Disqualification) 2009 Regulations and the successful applicant will be required to complete a declaration form to establish whether they are disqualified under these regulations.
