Are you an experienced and qualified counsellor ready to take on an ambitious and challenging role based in Blaenau Gwent’s secondary schools and other young people’s settings?
Opportunities are available to work in Blaenau Gwent with young people aged 11-25 years including those in year 6 primary. There are long term and fixed term posts available, pending additional funding. There are opportunities available from 2 to 4 days per week across settings.
We are seeking motivated and committed self employed counsellors who can work flexibly, on a multi-agency basis, supporting young people to manage their emotional wellbeing effectively over as many sessions as the young person would like/need. Payment is by way of a monthly invoice for a maximum of 8 hours per contracted day, seeing 5 young people and includes associated admin time etc. (up to £160 per day). The Independent Counselling Service for Young People is coordinated and managed by Blaenau Gwent Youth Service and is part of a wider support team and network supporting young people’s emotional wellbeing and mental health.
The successful candidate would be a member of the BACP or other recognised body and have in place arrangements for their own professional supervision. Candidates should be able to meet all the essential requirements in the job description, which is available on request. CPD opportunities are regularly available.
The posts will commence in September 2022. Fixed term contracts will initially be until March 2025 and will be reviewed for extension in line with available funding.
Two references will need to be provided before starting the post, as will an enhanced DBS check.
