A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a deputy head at the Ely and Caerau ICC. We are looking to recruit a Deputy Head of Centre to support the educational remit within the Centre, which includes a Welsh medium and an English medium Nursery, Daycare, Community provision and Wrap Around Care. The Centre is open 50 weeks of the year from 8 am to 6 pm.
We are looking to appoint a person who is committed to:
• Engaging children in learning in the early years
• Inclusive education
• Multi-agency work to support families
• Working to involve parents in their children’s learning
The successful candidate will need to be fluent in Welsh and English, both orally and in writing. As a member of the Senior Management Team you will need to be an excellent and innovative practitioner with at least five years recent teaching experience in an early years setting.
The Deputy Head of Centre will take a significant responsibility for developing the educational aspect of the Centre including developing high quality support for children with additional learning needs across the whole centre. The Deputy Head of Centre will work in conjunction with our in house partners including Flying Start, Parents Plus, Early Years Inclusion and Disability Team and Early Help. The role will involve working collaboratively with a range of external partners with the view to developing new links in the community which will enhance the existing excellent work of the Centre. You will assume responsibility for all aspects of the Centre in the absence of the Head of Centre.
You will need to demonstrate a commitment to flexible working which will include early mornings, evenings and some weekend work. Your duties will be assigned on a rota basis. As the Centre will be open for 50 weeks a year you will be required to take holidays on a flexible basis and agree this with the Head of Centre to ensure effective management cover within the Centre.
