The Governors are inviting applications for the post of Deputy Headteacher at this successful Powys School, to commence in September 2019.
Gwernyfed High School is a mixed rural High School of 460 pupils, including 70 in the Sixth Form. It serves an area of South Powys of 100 square miles, including Talgarth, Llangors, Bronllys, Llyswen and the ‘book’ town of Hay on Wye, as well as many farming communities. FSM is 4.9%, on average 95% of pupils achieve L5+ at KS3. In 2018 L2 5 A* - C (inc Eng Lang/Ma) = 80% Quartile 1 in all indicators for standards. We have been categorised by the Welsh Government as a ‘Green’ school in terms of support required for the third successive year.
Situated on the border of the Brecon Beacons National Park Gwernyfed is 40 minutes from Hereford, Ebbw Vale and Merthyr. Cardiff, Newport and Swansea are accessible in just over 1 hour. We believe it is one of the best locations to teach in Wales.

The Senior Leadership Team consists of the Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher, one Assistant Headteacher and a Business Manager. Roles and responsibilities are discussed and agreed annually.
