PURPOSE OF POST:
The Governing Body of Usk Church in Wales Primary School is seeking to appoint a positive and inspirational Deputy Headteacher to join their successful and happy Voluntary Controlled Church in Wales school from January 2021.
This is a Senior Leadership Team position with a teaching responsibility that, under the direction of the Headteacher, provides both a significant contribution to the development of a clear vision including the Christian distinctiveness of a Church in Wales school, and excellence in teaching practice. The post holder is required to undertake the professional responsibilities of a Deputy Headteacher as specified in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document and to deputise for the Headteacher as and when required.
The Deputy Headteacher job description is based upon the standards, values and dispositions identified in the Professional Standards for Teaching and Leadership 2018. In addition, this post in a Church in Wales school requires Christian Ethos and Christian Values to be an integral part of the delivery of all aspects of engagement and responsibility within the school and wider community.
The Deputy Headteacher is expected to work to the 5 professional standards for Teaching and Leadership as well as the accompanying Values and Dispositions. The responsibilities will be carried out in partnership with all school stakeholders, providing the professional leadership required to enable all staff to support learners in achieving their full potential as well as demonstrating personal excellence in teaching. This should be undertaken in accordance with the policies of the governing body and the priorities set out in Provincial, Diocesan, local and national education strategies.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and a comprehensive screening process will be undertaken on all applicants. This will include an enhanced with barred list check with the Disclosure and Barring Service. (DBS)
