Deputy Head Teacher

We are an outstanding special secondary school for students with learning difficulties and are seeking an inspirational Deputy Head to join our highly motivated and dynamic Senior Leadership Team. This position would be particularly suitable for an aspiring head teacher who wanted to gain whole school leadership responsibility and experience.
You will be an experienced, exemplary teacher and role model with high expectations of pupils’ learning and behaviour. You will oversee the day to day running of the school and lead in the absence of the headteacher. You will oversee SEND and behaviour across the school and have experience managing challenging behaviour in a leadership role. You will have the ability to coach and mentor other professionals, be able to co-ordinate and manage teacher deployment and have the flexibility to manage short and long term change. Your high levels of diplomacy and sensitivity will enable you to pre-empt and diffuse difficult situations. You will be committed to working in partnership with staff, parents, governors and students and ideally will already hold the NPQH qualification or be willing to undertake it.
You will take a role in curriculum development and delivery and your teaching commitments will be approximately 25%. You will demonstrate the ability to lead, manage and deliver outstanding lessons and a broad range of curriculum subjects differentiated to meet the needs of students working below national standards. You will be creative, innovative and imaginative.
You will have proven leadership, management and organisational skills and be able to lead and motivate a committed multidisciplinary team including senior managers, teachers, support staff and therapists. You will have excellent interpersonal and presentation skills and the ability to engage effectively with a wide variety of people.
