Design and Technology Technician

Bristol Free School is seeking a Technician specialising in Design Technology to join our excellent Computer Science and Design Technology Department.
- Salary Range: NJC 6-9 £16,541 - £17,553 (pro rata from £19,171 - £20,344)
- 37 hours per week x 39 weeks per annum, term time
- Hours between 8 am and 4.30 pm every school day
Under the instruction/guidance of the Head of Computer Science and DT, provide support in the curriculum areas of Design and Technology with a focus on supporting lessons and the preparation and maintenance of resources. This includes supporting staff and students through coordinating the use and development of practical resources and facilities to ensure that the demands of high quality DT teaching and learning are being met. The DT curriculum covers Product Design, Textiles and Food and Nutrition. The role is primarily product design focused but will incorporate aspects of textiles, food and art support as required.
DT is a popular subject within Bristol Free School with increasing uptake at GCSE and A Level. In KS3 students work on four rotations of 10 weeks covering product design, textiles, food and nutrition and graphics. The projects students complete prepare them effectively with skills and theory required for KS4 and KS5 as well as essential life skills. The Faculty consists of eight teachers and six teaching rooms.
Bristol Free School is a vibrant and successful school, serving the community of North West Bristol. It is situated in a well-connected location, from which it is easy to access the city and motorway network.
It is part of the Russell Education Trust. The school was established in September 2011 and in a short space of time, has become a very successful and oversubscribed school.
The School admits 200 children per year and occupies a mix of refurbished and new buildings which were opened in September 2013. The Sixth Form opened in September 2016.
