Truro and Penwith College is recruiting for the exciting new Health Works for Cornwall employment support programme, which aims to support 5,500 workless individuals across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly with health-related barriers to gaining employment. Part-funded by the European Social Fund (ESF), with investment from Cornwall Council and using a supply chain of delivery partners, the project will deliver training and support based on Information Advice and Guidance principles to help remove these barriers and to progress individuals into work.
The successful applicant’s prime responsibility will be to support the attainment of ESF project targets by providing group sessions and one-to-one information, advice and guidance on mental health issues to students across Truro and Penwith College.
The successful candidate will meet with individual students to assess support and needs. The Mental Health Advisor will also liaise with tutors, staff, community workers and carers where appropriate to facilitate educational attainment and retention of students allowing them to personally progress and achieve. For this rewarding position, candidates should have qualifications within the mental health/psychiatric field with a strong interest in the mental well-being of students and considerable proven experience. Due to the interagency working aspect of this role excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills are essential. Travelling between sites may be necessary.
