Full time fixed term Teacher of Mathematics and Numeracy for September 2019
Islwyn High School, Caerphilly’s newest 21st Century 11 to 16 school, opened its doors in September 2016 as a result of an amalgamation of Oakdale and Pontllanfraith Comprehensive Schools. The school’s 1200 pupils transferred in June 2017 to a brand new, purpose built, state of the art building located on the Oakdale Business Park.
The main structure is three storeys high and a sports hall of a similar height is linked, via a glass bridge, to a two-storey building that is the school’s dining hall. It has been built in a modern design and incorporates a garden, an amphitheatre and a pond. The school also boasts a floodlit 3G sports pitch, 200 metre athletics track and fitness suite, along with a multi-use sports pitch for netball and tennis. There is also an outstanding performance hall and music suite. All teaching takes place in climate controlled classrooms spread over the three floors, all linked to the whole school digital network, with the Mathematics Department accommodating a clustered group of classrooms on the middle floor. The ICT infrastructure is second to none.
Governors and staff have very high expectations of what can be achieved in our new school and we want talented individuals to join us to translate these expectations and aspirations into reality.
We now need an innovative and dynamic teacher of Mathematics/ Numeracy to join us with experience of teaching WJEC GCSE to A* standard.
Closing date for applications: midday 22nd May 2019.
Interviews will be held Friday 24th May 2019.
