We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and outstanding construction multi-skills tutor who can make a real contribution to our strategic plan. Our aspiration is to become an outstanding provider in Surrey. Nescot College will see significant investment and growth in the next few years, adding to its existing portfolio of construction provision, making it one of the most exciting places to teach in Surrey. Having recently invested over £30 million in our facilities to provide our students with access to the best facilities and equipment, we are seeking to ensure that our students are skill ready when they leave the door and are armed with an understanding of the current developments in the relevant technical disciplines.
Successful candidates will be required to deliver qualifications to students in both workshop and classroom. The multi-skills qualification provides the ideal introduction to the construction industry for young people and covers essential skills in the following construction trades: bricklaying, carpentry and joinery, plastering, painting and decorating, wall and floor tiling.
Ideally the right candidate will have a brickwork background and have an industry recognised level 2 qualification, with site experience. However, candidates from other construction backgrounds such as plastering and carpentry will be considered, as the right candidate will need to have good levels of practical skills across more than one construction discipline in order to teach on this multi-skills programme. Experience of working in a maintenance setting would also be advantageous for prospective applicants, as would have the ability to demonstrate a good level of practical skills across a range of construction trades.
You will teach and assess students who are currently studying construction crafts at levels 1 and 2.
Preferably applicants should have experience of teaching and assessing in one of the following disciplines: brickwork, carpentry or plastering, however other construction trades will be considered. Applicants should hold a teaching qualification (or be willing to work towards this). New applicants direct from industry will be welcome to apply as support will be made available to gain teaching & assessing qualifications.
We are able to offer you a final salary pension scheme, generous holidays and the facilities of a College campus set in 7 acres of green belt in a peaceful setting. The College has excellent transport links and is set in a location convenient to London and the South East and offers a large free on-site car park.
To apply please email your CV with a covering email by the closing date, quoting reference 0810b or alternatively please go to our website to complete an application form.
