Old Vicarage School is a thriving independent day school for girls aged 3 -11 years located on Richmond Hill in Richmond, Surrey.
We are seeking a committed, enthusiastic and reliable teaching assistant to assist with the teaching of Sport & PE to girls from Reception Class upwards. This is a permanent, full-time (term time only) position.
The teaching assistant will be required to support the specialist PE & Games teachers, helping them to coach team sports, PE, swimming and athletics. Although this will be the primary focus of the role, the teaching assistant will also be expected to participate willingly in extra-curricular activities, undertake break /lunch duties and assist other teachers as the need arises.
The teaching assistant, whilst being guided and supervised by specialist teachers, will need to have sufficient confidence, maturity, skills and experience to be able to work independently with groups of children to support and guide their learning and make sure they stay on task during the lesson or activity.
This position is suitable for a person who is a talented and keen all-round sportsperson who possesses skill and knowledge in two or more of the school’s focus sports of netball, hockey, cricket and swimming. Applicants should hold GCSE’s in English and Maths at Grade C/Level 4 or above, have competent IT skills and demonstrate a mature and responsible attitude to work. Hours of work
The working day will start at 8.00am and finish at 6.00pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays during term times. The Teaching Assistant must also be available to assist at one Saturday morning sporting event per month during term-time.
To compensate for the long working days and the occasional Saturday work requirement, the PE & Games Teaching Assistant will not be required to work on Mondays other than by prior arrangement.
