The Governors are looking to appoint a well-qualified and talented individual to lead our successful Computer Science and ICT Department.
The post of Head of Computer Science and ICT is an exciting one. The successful candidate will be responsible for the successful running of the Computer Science and ICT curriculum.
The school is known locally, nationally and internationally for its use of technology. This has been recognised by Microsoft and Treorchy Comprehensive School is the only Microsoft Training Academy in Wales.
Candidates for this post should be able to demonstrate:
• ability and success in the teaching of Computer Science and/or ICT up to and including ‘A’ level standard
• a commitment to developing his/her leadership and management skills
• innovative but effective approaches to teaching Computer Science and ICT across the age and ability range
• the ability to lead initiatives across the Computer Science and ICT department and across the school.
Treorchy Comprehensive School is embarking on an exciting chapter and is a ‘6th Form Centre of excellence’ for the Upper Rhondda valley. Some brand new state of the art accommodation has been built and further refurbishment is taking place, increasing the number of classrooms in the school and enhancing the existing high quality teaching and learning environment.
The School is situated at the head of the Rhondda Valley within easy access of the Brecon Beacons National Park, 40 minutes travelling distance from Swansea and 40 minutes from Cardiff and the South Wales coast. Treorchy is a successful and popular school, which boasts an excellent academic record on behalf of all its students.
