We are seeking an innovative and ambitious Head of Mathematics to join our leadership team and help take our school to the next stage of its development.
Why Consider Kings Monkton School?
Kings Monkton School is the oldest independent school in Cardiff and is a co-educational establishment for pupils aged 3-18. From 2013, KMS has been the fastest growing independent school in the UK and has moved from an adequate rating under ESTYN to consistently achieving excellent. We are a mainstream school with SEN status, and as such undergo annual monitoring by ESTYN and take pupils funded by the Local Authority, with SEN Statements, as well as privately funded and Tier 4 children. In 2019 we underwent a Management Buyout with the Principal and Vice Principal purchasing the school.
Kings Monkton School consistently has 300 pupils roll and has moved to having a unique blend of online learning and onsite delivery through the pandemic. We are an inclusive school with no entrance examination and only one of two schools to be a mainstream independent school with SEN status. Our pastoral system is second to none and we pride ourselves on excellent working relationships with pupils and parents. It is this collaboration and flexibility that makes us such an outstanding school.
Our Leadership Team
Our leadership team is made up of the Principal and Vice Principal, an Assistant Principal and our Business Manager. An opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Headteacher to be responsible for learning and teaching within the school, as well as taking the lead in the mathematics faculty. This is a new post that we have created due to the increasing growth and development of the school. We are a very close knit team who are ambitious and forward thinking in developing our school as one of the best educational establishments available. Our unique status creates a wonderful environment for all pupils to thrive and be the best they can be.
The Mathematics Faculty
The Mathematics Faculty has two other members of staff and a history of excellent results. Current numbers at Post 16 are excellent, with the majority of pupils in our Sixth Form studying mathematics at A Level and we also offer further mathematics. Growth in the success of the faculty has been a result of develop the White Rose approach to our delivery where pupils gain an understanding of mathematics. This extends throughout our primary and secondary school and is an area which can be developed and embedded further.
This is an exceptionally exciting time for Kings Monkton School as we face the future challenges of a struggling economy, continued growth and development of our Secondary school and Post 14 & 16 options, and the need for a new site to delivery on our expansionist plans. As such, we are looking for an innovative and energetic team member who can help move Kings Monkton on to its next stage of development.
As a member of the leadership team there is an attractive package available.
If you would like to visit the school there is an opportunity to meet the Leadership Team for coffee so please contact the school to arrange the visit.
