Wichelstowe Trinity Learning Campus - Deanery CE Academy
Deanery Head of School – September 2021
Leadership Scale L19-L24 Full time post, Permanent
The Wichelstowe Trinity Learning Campus is the heart of learning and community engagement in the new Wichelstowe development.
Kingfisher CE Academy and The Deanery CE Academy is (to all intents and purposes) an all-through school, under a single leadership and management structure, a single staff, and single Academy Council focused on the provision of the highest quality, sector-leading education which is underpinned by our distinctive Christian foundation and vision for education, and our outstanding community-focused activities. Leading in Swindon and the surrounding area in lifelong learning, with 2 – 18+ years educational provision, regional and national sporting and arts centres of excellence, adult-learning, all within an integrated campus providing wrap-around care, out-of-hours and enhanced provision for all children, young people, and for the community.
The campus site operates as a single entity, reflecting the shared provision and ethos established through the original design and layout of the schools and environment. This will enable further access for the children and young people, and the community to an extended facilities offer on site, growing the provision to meet our aim for sporting, arts and community excellence.
The Diocese of Bristol Academies Trust (DBAT)and the Academy Council are looking to appoint a highly effective and dedicated leader as Head of School for The Deanery CE Academy from September 2021. First and foremost, we are looking for a leader who is wholly aligned to our ethos and values, and who has a passion and vision for Christian education for the whole community; an excellent practitioner who is able to lead and inspire our pupils and staff to achieve excellence. This post represents a really exciting opportunity for someone who wishes to use their leadership skills within a very strong and supportive professional network to grow a new community of learners, and to establish the school and campus as the integral centre of the new community. The successful candidate will be a strong and knowledgeable practitioner with an excellent record of teaching and leadership, and a strong demonstrable understanding of pedagogy.
A Culture of Support
We believe that our Head of School should be able to focus on building a really strong and safe culture of learning amongst pupils and student, alongside a rigorous culture of continued professional learning and enquiry for all staff, and held by our clear Christian vision and values. To facilitate this work, the Head of School will be supported by our innovative partnership in a number of ways. This support will include the Diocese of Bristol Academies Trust (DBAT) Central Support Services Team, the DBAT Education Team, the Hub Director of Learning and the WTLC Executive Headteacher. This will enable the Heads of School and the wider senior leadership team to fully utilise their areas of expertise and focus on the campus’ teaching and learning development work.
Time to Lead
The Head of School will be expected to take a leading role in school improvement of The Deanery; developing strong pedagogical practice, coaching staff, creating partnerships, maximising community links and building an exciting school for learning which establishes the school and the campus as a Christian centre of the community, for all the community.
Building for a Strong and Sustainable Future
The Wichelstowe Trinity Learning Campus is already strongly supported by an excellent Academy Council, which is made up of skilled and committed members that work incredibly hard to ensure that our children and young people get the very best possible from their education and their learning opportunities. The Head of School would be expected to be a committed member of Trust and support its vision and values.
