Required for January 2021
Archbishop McGrath Catholic High School is an over-subscribed and successful 11-19 school with an excellent reputation, located in a purpose-built site on the outskirts of Bridgend that opened in 2011. The Governors are seeking to appoint an exceptional headteacher to lead a Catholic community which strives to uphold strong spiritual and moral values and to help pupils achieve their full potential.
The school was categorised as ‘Green-A’ by Welsh Government in 2019 and has seen a prolonged period of significant improvement. In the last Section 50 Inspection it was awarded ‘Good’ in all areas.
Staff at Archbishop McGrath are professional, dedicated and highly motivated; parents are supportive; and the learners are hardworking and cooperative.
The school offers some unique challenges and opportunities and the active Governing Body is currently reappraising its vision for the school and the new headteacher will have a key role in co-creating and delivering it.
Applications will be welcome from committed, practising Catholics who have:
a significant and successful experience as a head teacher or deputy head teacher with a commitment to partnership working with learners, staff and parents.
a real desire to build on the school’s many successes and to enhance all aspects of school life
a strong and inclusive personal faith that will encourage everybody in the school community to live out the school’s Mission Statement, recognising that around half of learners in the school are from non-Catholic families
the ability to inspire and ensure exceptional teaching and learning for all learners
the vision, energy, interpersonal skills and integrity to inspire commitment and enthusiasm from all members of the school community
