Compass Learning Partnership (CLP) and The Village School trustees and governors are seeking to appoint an exceptional Headteacher or deputy Headteacher to be the new Headteacher for The Village School. The Village School is an outstanding through age special school situated in The London Borough of Brent.
The Village School is a special academy located across three sites and is part of the multi academy trust, CLP. The Village School is highly inclusive and caters for over 300 pupils who have a wide range of complex needs and disabilities; moderate to severe learning difficulties, physical disabilities, autism and/or global developmental delay and all have EHCP.
The partner school in the trust is Woodfield School, which is a secondary age special school.
The Village School main building is recognised nationally, as a very high quality purpose built school for children and young people with complex needs and disabilities, which was completed in 2013. The new build was funded by the London Borough of Brent. The School community believes that ‘it takes a village to raise a child’ and every child and young person is entitled to be included and to make progress to fulfil the best of their ability and to be their best selves.
Whilst all schools and communities are facing new challenges The Village is committed to continuing to provide outstanding educational provision for children and young people who have complex needs and disabilities. We believe in working closely and supportively with our children and young people and their families.
The Village School has a community of committed and dedicated staff who are highly skilled. The school reflects the diverse community of Brent and we are keen to ensure that our community is represented by those who have high expectations and who will join us in our mission to ensure the greater good and improved opportunities.
Our youngsters enjoy the exciting educational journey they experience and we are always looking for the best innovative practice and our staff and community benefit from exceptional CPD and succession planning pathways.
Brent schools are part of a superb collegiate community with very supportive and inspiring senior leaders. As a SEND school we have a very strong partnership with the local authority.
This is an exciting time to join The Village School and CLP and will require a visionary and dedicated Headteacher who shares their commitment to innovation, development and the principles of public life and who will lead the school through the next phase of its journey. There is a strong track record in exceptional CPLD and succession planning across the trust which our new Headteacher will access and contribute to strategically. This includes a commitment from the trust to providing a coach and Headteacher induction with colleagues from the local community. There is an outstanding leadership development and support network in the London Borough of Brent. The Headteacher will automatically become a member of the Trust Executive Leadership team on appointment. Across the trust we are responsible for a community of 500 children and young people and in the region of 350 staff. Our executive team is charged with championing the needs of young people with complex needs in external strategic groups and partnerships for the greater good of our community of pupils and their families.
If you are an experienced Headteacher or deputy Headteacher in a special school or setting for children and young people with complex needs and disabilities, this role provides you with an unparalleled opportunity to lead and develop an inclusive and dynamic school.
It further provides the opportunity to work strategically, locally and nationally to influence the direction of education, opportunities and lifestyles for young people with complex needs and disabilities in the years to come.
We are a diverse community and it is important to us that our new Headteacher is equally committed to celebrating and respecting difference and diversity.
You must have a proven record of involvement in school improvement with a clear vision of excellence in special educational needs with regards to evidenced based approaches. Whilst displaying compassion you will work with colleagues to identify innovative ways to continually improve performance. As stated in our vision statement for the trust, 'vision must be rooted in the community we serve’.
