We are recruiting for a Head Teacher to join this Outstanding specialist setting. You will need to be an effective leader, passionate and focussed to ensure that we secure the very best for the children’s learning and progression. This role would suit a SENCO, special or primary senior leader with experience of managing a team with a track record of effective leadership and management.
We are a small school with a friendly and supportive team and many opportunities to develop skills and expertise across a very wide range of special needs. We are also a national centre of excellence in enabling learners to engage and re-engage in their education, and in providing other settings with expertise to further support returning learners. Prior knowledge of acquired brain injury is not a prerequisite as training will be provided. Classes are small and much of the teaching is on a 1:1 basis enabling teachers to deliver truly personalised learning.
The Surrey Teaching Centre is a medical pupil referral unit and is run as a maintained Surrey school. The majority of our learners are following a rehabilitation programme within The Children’s Trust as they have recently sustained an acquired brain injury as a result of an accident or illness and generally, they have been admitted from an acute hospital setting. Rehabilitation programmes vary in length and pupils can be with us for between six weeks and four months. Our age range is from 2 to 18 years.
Our learners are resident within The Children’s Trust which is an independent charitable trust. The Children’s Trust is a registered children’s home. All our learners have special educational needs, medical needs and/or the need for intensive therapies. Most learners will have an EHCP when they leave us and over 50% will return to their mainstream primary or secondary educational placements.
