Part – Time Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Stanwell Fields Primary School & Nursery is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, hardworking and committed HLTA, to provide cover for teacher absence as required, to monitor and evaluate children’s learning, provide objective and accurate feedback on the children’s achievement. This will include providing cover at short notice for absent teachers and planned cover.
Key skills and experience you will need:
• An ability to build good working relationships with both pupils and adults
• Good organisational skills
• Flexibility and creativity
• Enjoy working with children
• Good literacy and numeracy skills (level 2 and above)
• Ability to manage pupils and deal with challenging behaviour
• Patience and a sense of humour
• It could be useful if you have IT skills or are fluent in local community languages
Hours: The role will be for two days per week (Thursday & Friday) 8.20-3.20pm with an hour for lunch. (12 hours per week over 39 weeks, term time plus 5 INSET days).
Salary: NJC pay scale point 12 FTE £24,462 PRO RATA to £6,950 Fixed Term Contract until 31.07.2019

You will contribute to pupils’ learning activities in accordance with professional judgements made by the Headteacher or other appropriate teaching staff under the regulatory framework. Under the direction class teachers and within the national standards for HLTAs, the post holder will deliver specified work to individual pupils, groups and whole classes. This will include providing cover at short notice for absent teachers and planned cover. In order to do this the post holder will understand and apply professional values and practice through collaborative working, respect for and commitment to pupils, and fostering pupils’ attitudes and behaviour patterns.
To deliver specified work as directed and planned by the class teacher, tailoring to meet the needs of the children, if required.
To be involved in the assessment, recording and reporting on the development, progress and attainment of the children.
To mark work as directed by the class teacher in line with the marking policy of the school.
To cover for sickness and planned cover time for class teachers.
To work with groups or individual children as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support for Teachers
Monitor and evaluate children’s learning.
Provide objective and accurate feedback as required on the children’s achievement.
Establish a clear framework for discipline in line with the school policy.
Anticipate and manage behaviour constructively, promoting self-control, confidence and independence.
Support for Children
Assess the needs of the individuals to implement strategies to support the children’s learning.
Establish a successful working relationship with the children, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.
Promote inclusion and acceptance of all individuals in the classroom.
Encourage the children to interact and work co-operatively with others.
Promote independent learning and employ strategies to recognise and reward achievement of self-reliance
Provide constructive feedback to the children.
Use ICT effectively to support pupils’ learning
Select and prepare resources necessary to lead the activities
To attend staff meetings, team meetings or INSET as required.
Comply and assist with all the school policies.
To follow all safeguarding procedures.
Contribute to the overall work ethos, aims and objectives of the school.
Participate in organisation and accompany pupils off-site and where agree “extended school” activities under an agreed system of supervision
