Leader of Learning: English (GCSE/ESQ) - Cross College
Coleg Gwent are seeking to appoint a dynamic, forward thinking, inspiring Leader of Learning for English to lead and manage our excellent team of teachers.
We are looking for a Leader of Learning who is passionate about their subject and can teach across the ability range, who can show evidence of visible impact on learner outcomes in their current post and who will have the capacity to continue to raise attainment in a high performing department through motivating and inspiriting learners and staff.
It is imperative that you have the ability to support your team, share best practice, lead by example, and raise standards in teaching, learning and assessment across the college.
The ideal candidate will be a strong classroom practitioner with outstanding subject knowledge and communication skills, and the ability to think operationally with excellent team working skills. You will need effective leadership skills and be able to show the motivation and commitment required to achieve ambitious targets and exceed expectations both within your team and the wider department as a whole. You will be someone who has high expectations of themselves and others, with the clear potential to progress further in the future. You will be someone thoroughly committed to making a difference to learners’ lives.
You will need to have excellent knowledge of the GCSE English Language syllabus and desirable to have working knowledge and delivered Essential Skills Qualification (ESQ) Communication up to level 2.
Candidates will hold a subject specific degree and have significant successful experience of delivering GCSE English Language with excellent outcomes. You will have experience in leading a team, held responsibility for a specific area within your department, or demonstrate the potential of being an effective leader.
Applications may be submitted in Welsh and will not be treated less favourably than applications submitted in English.
The ability to use the Welsh language at basic level (or willingness to undertake training) is desirable.
