As part of an exciting new plan to improve secondary provision for all student in the Vale of Glamorgan, the governors of Whitmore High School, working closely with the Local Authority, are seeking to appoint a number of inspiring and passionate Learning Support Assistants to support a newly appointed Assistant Head Teacher in establishing a new Specialist Resource Base at the school. The Resource Base will provide 20 secondary places for pupils with autistic spectrum condition.
Whitmore High School is an 11-18 Comprehensive School, which opened in September 2018. It serves boys and girls from the Western side of Barry, and was established with the strong support of the local community, parents, and the Vale of Glamorgan.
Following a successful bid for 21st Century Schools funding, the construction of a new, £35m school building is currently underway, with completion planned for May 2021 and this new building will house the purpose built Resource Base.
The school is based on a large, pleasant site, which has easy access from all major roads, and is close to Cardiff, Newport, and Bridgend. Pupil numbers are buoyant and the school has proven to be a very popular local choice; the school was heavily oversubscribed for Year 7 in 2020.
Visits to the school and informal discussions about the role are welcomed, and the Head can be contacted by emailing his PA via the school email address.
Whitmore High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We particularly welcome applications from under represented groups including ethnicity, gender, transgender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religion.
