LSA (Learning Support Assistant) 1:1 support
We are looking to recruit a Learning Support Assistant to support a pupil who has an EHCP for the Medical condition: Type 1 Diabetes (insulin dependent diabetes). This condition means the body cannot produce the hormone insulin, which controls the body’s blood glucose (bg) levels. For this pupil insulin is delivered in a controlled manner into their body via an insulin pump, this pupil’s levels are remotely monitored by a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM).
LSA specifications: An LSA who has experience of Type 1 Diabetes and who has some or all of the following skill set:
• Physical management to keep the pupil safe, healthy and able to learn this involves finger prick tests, treatment with insulin and glucose, checking cannula sites and insulin catheter, as well as learning to use insulin pump to its full capacity, learning to understand and respond to blood sugar trend data from her Continuous Glucose Monitor and counting carbohydrates
• The aptitude to confidently look after the pupil, model good and confident care, and to support the EHCP pupil in progressively taking age-appropriate steps towards managing elements of the pupils’ medical condition on their own.
• To allow for full inclusion and active participation in all aspects of learning and life in school

Hours: Tues – Fri 8.30 am – 3.20 p.m (3-4 full days per week, term time)

Salary: Surrey PS3: £17,663 - £18,607 (pro rata)
