Learning Support Assistant

Contract: Term Time and Permanent
Hours: 31.25 hours per week term time only
We are looking for an outstanding Learning Support Assistant.
Alwoodley School are looking to appoint a highly motivated, Learning Support Assistant to largely work in a Year 2 class in the first instance. The successful candidate will be required to support, under the direction of the SENCO, class teacher and other professionals, the education and social and emotional wellbeing of several children in the class. Experience of supporting children with ASD or attachment issues would be beneficial. Your role will be to help pupils to overcome barriers to learning - this will involve working with pupils in a one to one scenario, but also sometimes in smaller groups. You will aim to encourage and enthuse the pupils to participate in all school activities to their best abilities so they can learn effectively. You will be working with challenging pupils. An important part of your job will be to collaborate with other teaching professionals in school, so it is important that you are able to work well with other people. We are looking for someone who is keen to make a difference to pupils and the community. You will need to have some experience working with pupils who display challenging behaviour and will feel confident in being able to deal with these types of behaviours. It would be helpful if you have a natural ability in building rapport with pupils. As a Learning Support Assistant in our school, you will be expected to support other pupils across the school as and when needed therefore the ability to be flexible and adapt to the needs to the school and its pupils is a priority.
