Carr Manor Community School (CMCS) is an ‘all through’ school at an exciting phase of expansion and development across both our primary and secondary phases. We are proud of our caring and inclusive reputation and have a strong team of professionals committed to developing and delivering a broad curriculum to children aged 4-19.
We are one of the founding partners of the Leeds Learning Alliance and we are looking forward to further developing our partnerships over the forthcoming months and years.
We are now looking to appoint a Learning Support Worker in our Resourced Provision (Mosaic), for children with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC); who has the tenacity, skills and flexibility to work in a fast-moving environment and the passion to help our children in both our Primary and Secondary phases to progress and develop. We are looking for experienced colleagues with proven specialist skills and knowledge supporting children with SEND including Autism Spectrum Needs, embedded in a clear understanding of what makes successful learning and learners with a range of needs.
Preferably you will have significant experience in both mainstream and SEND posts through which you have acquired a strong grasp of the impact of ASC needs on learning, and a comprehensive range of strategies for supporting children with these needs in a mainstream context. You will have very effective communication skills. You will have a firm grasp of the current SEND context, including legal frameworks and best practice guidance in your specialist area, which you will demonstrate in your role.
It is essential that the post holder shares our school ethos which is firmly rooted in a restorative approach and the following values: to ‘Know our children well’: to be ‘Partners in Learning’: to develop ‘Character for Learning’; to ‘Enjoy and Achieve’. We firmly believe that in order to move forwards we need to be prepared and able to ‘do things differently and do different things’. We work restoratively with pupils, families and with each other to maintain the ‘strong community culture with a very strong inclusive ethos’ that Ofsted recognised when they visited us in June 2018.
We significantly invest in the development and training of all colleagues (including opportunities for Assessment Only route) who are equally happy to share their expertise, skills and knowledge across the organisation. If you are looking to be stretched and challenged within a positive and creative staff team and you have a genuine desire to make a positive difference to our children, please submit an application form, covering letter and CV. Please visit our website for further details about the role and where you will find our privacy notice which is applicable for all job applicants.
We promote diversity and want a workforce which reflects the population of Leeds. This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All successful applications will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring check and satisfactory references. “The school’s four key values permeate throughout the entire school and underpin everything the staff and pupils do” (Ofsted, June 2018)
