Contract type: Full Time
Contract term: Permanent- start date 23rd August 2021
This is an outstanding opportunity to join the exciting and inspirational Ludlow Street Healthcare, and play a crucial role in the continued success and development of Beechwood College.
Working as member of the education team you will play an active role in supporting the planning and development of educational activities and learning programmes that address the individual needs of our students. With support and guidance from the Principal and deputy, you will work across all areas of our curriculum. You will be required to set out individual learning pathways which support our students’ potential to live more independently; developing academic, social and personal skills; whilst paying close attention to the development of purposeful accredited and non-accredited learning for students.
Beechwood College is a specialist service comprising both education and residential care that operates with one vision; to enrich the lives of students and nurture a brighter future. Registered as an independent college and home and located in the beautiful, picturesque sea side location of Sully in the Vale of Glamorgan, Beechwood College offers 52 week or term time residential provision, and day placements for young people aged 16 years of age and above who have a diagnosis of an Autistic Spectrum Disorder or associated difficulties.
Beechwood College prides itself on offering meaningful packages of education to those who will benefit from further education in a setting which offers greater individualised support, and where the student would struggle to access conventional mainstream services; offering each young person an individually tailored and holistic programme of support, equipping them to face the challenges of life.
We are seeking to recruit a candidate, who is able to deliver specialist education to those with autism and Asperger’s syndrome, to join an expanding, successful educational organisation.
You will be expected to deliver the curriculum in an innovative and dynamic way, using individual student interests where applicable. Ideally you will have experience of working with students with SEN and/or within a special school environment and possess sound knowledge of the relevant curriculum areas.
Due to our curriculum development it would also be advantageous if you were able to offer delivery of vocational training and enterprise, or creative arts as a discrete subject area where needed and support colleagues with the development of skills in relation to this area.
Above all we are looking for a lecturer who is:
• Passionate about improving the lives of others;
• Innovative, enthusiastic and inspirational;
• An effective strategic, creative thinker and implementer; and
• An excellent communicator.
