The Engineering and Technology Directorate are currently seeking a Lecturer in Fabrication and Welding Maintenance Engineering to join their team. The successful candidate will be based at James Watt College (Aldridge Road, Birmingham, B44 8NE) and will be joining a team of experienced lecturers.
The Directorate offers a range of Electrical/Electronic and Mechanical Engineering courses, alongside very successful apprenticeship programmes for the leading National companies across the UK. The post holder is expected to have the knowledge and skills to make a successful contribution to the delivery of these courses. There will be a requirement to teach units on a range of different qualifications at all levels.
The department has grown significantly with key focus areas around Food and Drink Maintenance Engineering, Automotive and Rail. Due to the nature of some of the units taught, we particularly welcome those with teaching interests in the following areas:
• Operation of multi process welding equipment, including the set up and use of equipment such as ESAB/Murex/Lincoln/SIP etc. Also welding positionally with LCS, S Steels and Aluminium etc.
• Welding and fabrication maintenance activities, including understanding engineering information, before looking at planned maintenance and documentation needed.
• The production of components using fabrication and Sheetmetal skills, requirements to standards etc.
The post holder may also be required to occasionally teach at our other sites.
