About the role
We are looking for an experienced lecturer to course manage our UAL Level 3 pathways in Graphic Design with our creative team in Tonbridge.
The role involves teaching, pastoral tutoring and course managing learners on the UAL level 3 Graphic Design pathways. Your role will be to provide creative leadership in order to ensure a stimulating, skills focused and balanced experience for learners studying Graphic Design. You will also make sure that all learners are study programme compliant and meet the funding requirements for their programme of study. You will be delivering classes and workshops in practical art and design including Adobe Creative Suite software applications, illustration and hand rendered design skills.
The successful candidate will work closely with the course team to facilitate and assess project based practical assignments in line with the UAL unit specifications.
The ideal candidate will have at least a Bachelor Degree in a practical art discipline (graphic design). Experience of teaching and assessing is essential. You must have Level 2, or equivalent, Literacy and Numeracy qualifications.
About the team
The Art and Design department at Tonbridge has a busy, highly committed team of sixteen teaching staff and two technicians. The Further Education team delivers UAL awarding body programmes in Art and Design from levels 1 to Foundation Diploma. There is also a Higher education team who teach HNDs, Foundation Degrees and BA (Hons) programmes in Fine Art, Fashion and Textiles, and Graphic Design.
Art and Design, Tonbridge has approximately 250 FE students and another 150 HE students in the department. The students benefit from specialist rooms for fashion, textiles, Apple Mac digital design suites, as well as 3D and printmaking rooms. In addition, there are large art studios in the Art and Media block, Hawthorn – the location of the annual Art and Media Show at the end of June. The Learning Resources Centre is well-stocked with books, periodicals and e-resources in Art and Design. The college’s general classrooms also are well equipped with PCs and screens for interactive teaching and e-learning.
