Exciting opportunities have arisen within our Construction Department for new or experienced highly motivated Lecturers. Applicants are invited from a Building Services Engineering (BSE) background ideally able to deliver a selection of core subjects such as:
BSE Electrical Design Principles
BSE Plumbing Central Heating Installations
BSE Plumbing Hot & Cold Water, including Drainage and Sanitation Systems
BSE Electrical or Plumbing Maintenance Principles
BSE Electrical or Plumbing Design Systems
The successful applicants will teach across a range of full time and part time programmes to students typically studying at level 2 and 3 including Construction T-Levels (core and occupational specialisms) based on prior industrial/teaching experience. Applicants are therefore invited who hold a relevant BSE Level 3 qualification and/or are able to demonstrate significant industrial experience in the Electrical/Plumbing/Gas principal BSE fields. You will also hold a minimum Level 2 qualification in maths and English or equivalent. Applicants are required to hold a full teaching qualification at Level 5 or above or be willing to work towards obtaining one. If you do not hold a suitable teaching qualification, the College will support you to obtain this as part of our investment in your professional development.
The key responsibilities of the role include delivering theoretical and practical knowledge plus managing and conducting assessments in line with awarding organisation guidelines. Ensuring student progress is tracked and maintained on College IT systems, and that retention and achievement levels are maintained and improved.
Previous experience of working in a training environment or of working with young people is desirable but not essential as support is available for exceptional candidates yet to achieve qualified teacher status who are able to demonstrate commitment to developing others. An ability to demonstrate appropriate IT skills will be required including working remotely to provide distance learning and support to cohorts of students as required.
