We are looking for a Library Assistant to join our supportive and talented exams team at City Academy. We are a diverse multi-academy trust, looking for professional and ambitious people, with a passion for transforming our students’ learning.
This is a full time 37 hours per week position but we would welcome applications from part time staff – please state preferred the hours in the application form.
What we are looking for:
In this role you will work with students on a 1:1 or group level supporting them with homework and to choose and borrow books from the library. The post holder will be responsible for supervising students over break and lunchtimes and promoting reading for pleasure. Your duties will specifically include:-
- Supporting students and supervising The Discovery Centre before and after school as well as break and lunchtimes.
- Using the library management system to manage the book collection and book loans. Managing the physical library space, ensuring the computers are in working order and taking library bookings.
- Working as a member of the whole school reading team, improving the reading ages of all students at the Academy.
- Planning and running library activities such as reading groups and book promotions.
You will be someone who enjoys working with young people and understands the importance of encouraging young people to develop the habit of reading regularly outside of school. Previous experience of working in a school or a library is desirable though not essential. However, the ideal candidate will have extensive experience of working with Young People and a commitment to Libraries.

About the Cabot Learning Federation
The Cabot Learning Federation is a diverse Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) in the South West. We currently sponsor eight secondary academies and eight primary academies, an all through provision, Digitech Studio School and a discrete Post 16 provision and an alternative provision which consists of one primary and two secondary phases.
City Academy is a very diverse school with a high proportion of disadvantaged students (51% PPI, 18% SEND and 42% EAL) serving it’s community in the heart of Bristol. It was the first academy in the South West, opening on the site of the St George School in 2009.
