(Full-time, Fixed term - Possible Live In Role)
The College is seeking to appoint a Livestock Manager, who will contribute to the Animal Management and Agricultural Departments by assisting in the expansion of our current livestock provision. They will also contribute to the development of the College’s commercial livestock related activities, whilst ensuring the College adheres to the highest welfare and industry standards.
The Livestock Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day welfare and operation of all farm/livestock species and breeds housed at the College. The successful candidate must be experienced in managing a busy lambing schedule as well as possessing excellent practical estate skills. They must work closely with the HOD Agriculture to contribute towards the training and assessment of students. A modern outlook on farming is a must.
The Livestock Manager must be able to act on their own initiative whilst working to guidelines, protocols and quality standards as set out by the College and the farming industry. A detailed knowledge of, and approach to record keeping is essential.
The successful candidate will join a friendly team of experienced staff and will be offered training and development to build upon existing qualifications and experience. They should possess a desire to work with young people in a lively environment and have the necessary motivation and aspiration to progress and develop themselves within the department.
Due to the on-call responsibility of this role it is preferred that the successful candidate lives on site.
