We are looking for a Mental Health Nurse to work as part of our Student Support Team to facilitate mental health provisions and provide care and support to students.
In this role you will act as the referral point for students presenting with mental health difficulties. This will include completing psychosocial assessments for students presenting with a wide range of mental health challenges and helping students to manage their emotions through evidence based techniques. Referring students to local NHS and mental health services will form part of this role. You will maintain accurate and up-to-date records using appropriate college systems e.g. Pro-Monitor, My Concern and ensure the colleges safeguarding and child protection policy and procedures are adhered to. You will provide direct support to learners through offering therapy group work on specific common issued such as anxiety and depressions. This will include developing tools and strategies to share with students.
The successful applicant will be a registered nurse with the NMC and hold a HND or degree in nursing or mental health studies. You will also have a good understanding of the theories of mental health and illness. You will be able to build therapeutic relationships with students encouraging trust and will have a non-judgmental approach and understanding of confidentiality and the challenges that arise when working with young people. Experience of using Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for depression and anxiety would be desirable.
