Cambridge Regional College currently has an opportunity to join our team as a specialist note taker supporting students who are visually and/or hearing impaired by taking notes electronically to enable them to have access to the content of the teaching sessions and produce notes for review and revision.
You will work with teachers to raise the learning and attainment of students while promoting their social inclusion, self-esteem and independence. You will get the opportunity to support students in all vocational areas of the college and assist them to access the curriculum, participate in learning and fulfil their potential. The ability to demonstrate a sound knowledge and understanding of issues facing disabled people as well as a good understanding of the learning environment is essential.
You will need to be able to use your own initiative while out in support of learners, dealing with situations with tact and empathy. The need to be flexible in your approach is imperative. You will need to be qualified to GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English and Maths and ideally have experience of working with people with SEND. The ideal candidate will have:
• Excellent communication, time management and organisational skills
• A good knowledge of English including spelling and grammar
• Be able to recognise and capture the main points of a lecture
• Be reliable, punctual and resilient
