As a result of the retirement of the current post holder, the governors of Whitmore High School are seeking to appoint an inspiring and passionate teacher of Mathematics across Key Stages 3 and 4.
Whitmore High School is a 11-18 Comprehensive School, which opened in September 2018. It serves boys and girls from the Western side of Barry, and was established with the strong support of the local community, parents, and the Vale of Glamorgan. Following a successful bid for 21st Century Schools funding, the construction of a new, £35m school building is currently underway, with completion planned for September 2021 – during which, staff and pupils will be heavily involved with the planning of an outstanding learning environment.
The school is based on a large, pleasant site, which has easy access from all major roads, and is close to Cardiff, Newport, and Bridgend. Pupil numbers are buoyant and the school has proven to be a very popular local choice; the school was heavily oversubscribed for Year 7 in 2019.
The Maths department has an extremely hard-working, talented and innovative teaching staff, and standards in the department are high: GCSE benchmark quartile 1; with strong numeracy results obtained in November 2019; the department are consistently ranked amongst the highest attaining in the school. The successful applicant will therefore join a strong team.
