Pastoral Support Tutor – Professional Studies
(Full-time, Term-Time, Permanent)
We are seeking to appoint an experienced, highly motivated and dedicated individual to provide pastoral support to students within our Professional Studies Department, incorporating Early Years, Health and Social Care and Business studies. You will need knowledge and awareness of a variety of approaches to supporting learners. Experience and understanding of supporting students with mental health and behavioural needs is essential.
This role might suit someone from a Business, Psychology, Social Sciences background or someone wishing to explore roles within further education and teaching. The pastoral support tutor will be encouraged to pursue various CPD opportunities and support with the delivery of tutorial topics directly to students. Experience of similar work with post-16 learners would be useful.
The successful applicant must have a flexible approach to the role and be able to act on their own initiative whilst working to guidelines, protocols and quality standards as set out by the College. An interest in supporting young adults to learn and encouraging students to build resilience in order to prepare themselves for the workplace is essential.
The role will include providing up to date, accurate general information, advice and guidance support to students, parents and other College staff regarding academic performance; as well as financial/welfare matters and procedures. You will need to be highly organised and able to work across all curriculum levels within a diverse, fast-paced environment.
Attention to detail is essential as the role will include maintaining accurate records, in paper and electronic formats, of all interactions with learners and their parents, guardians and/or carers. The role may also include course management so the ability to supervise groups independently is essential.
