Performing Arts Technician (Full Time, Term Time Only)
Working 37 hours per week Monday to Friday between the hours of 8.30 am and 5.10 pm, for 39 weeks per year, term time only. A degree of flexibility is required including to cover evening performances.
To assist in preparing for and the running of performances in the theatre. This could include (but is not limited to) Designing, making and sourcing costumes, props and set. To support the work of students and staff in the department.
You will:
• Assist in preparing for and the running of performances in the theatre. This could include (but is not limited to) Designing, making and sourcing costumes, props and set.
• Supervise groups of students undertaking practical assignments. To help staff and students to carry out particular operations using props, costumes and stage sets.
• Ensure that equipment and materials are kept in good working order and securely stored.
We are looking for a candidate who ideally has:
• A willingness and ability to work with a wide range of technologies including workshop machinery.
• Demonstrable creativity and art skills in at least one area; costumes, prop construction, set design.
• Experience of supporting Students and Staff in practical work.
Sixth Form Colleges Support Staff Pay Spine point 20, £16,551 rising to point 23 £17,894, with annual increments based on service and performance related criteria, (This is the prorated equivalent of the full time scale £19,328 to £20,771).
