The East Specialist Inclusive Learning Centre (SILC) John Jamieson School is a 2-19 generic special school with 264 pupils on roll. The East SILC is a complex organisation which operates on a variety of sites to provide a range of outreach services across the city, including partnerships with primary, secondary and further education providers, the city-wide Physical Difficulties and Medical Service as well as the Medical Needs Teaching Service for Leeds.
We have now entered phase two of our exciting school expansion and are seeking to recruit support staff who are wanting to work in what will become one of the largest special schools in the country.

Due to planned expansion, an opportunity has arisen for permanent full time teaching assistants to work at the East SILC John Jamieson School, this is to include any of our sites. The majority of our pupils have learning difficulties, and some have physical difficulties. Shortlisted candidates are expected to spend half a day in school prior to their interview.
We require a skilled, enthusiastic person who is willing to learn, support teaching and learning and address the personal needs of our pupils. You will need to be flexible and adaptable, a good communicator, cheerful, calm and be able to work as part of our team.
The East SILC has a progressive staffing structure in place for teaching assistants which is supported by Continual Professional Development. A thorough induction process is in place.
