Personal Mentor (Get Ahead Project)

FTE Salary: £22,704pa
Contract Details: 30 hours per week, 39 weeks per year. Fixed Term contract from 2nd September 2019 to 2nd July 2021
Start Date: ASAP
This is a fixed term contract aligned directly to the funding for the NEET Get Ahead project, which will commence on 2nd September 2019 and end on 2nd July 2021. The working hours for this role are Monday to Friday, 10am to 5pm with a 1 hour unpaid lunch break.
To provide pastoral support and mentoring to a caseload of students via group and 1:1 activity to assist in overcoming their barriers to success and develop their wider social and employability skills. Working with small groups of young people aged between 15 and 25 with the aim of getting them either into or back into employment, education or training.
1. Provide 1:1 support to an allocated caseload of tutees.
2. Provide group tutorial input to allocated tutees.
3. Proactively engage in the Partnership of Support by acting as the first port of call for parents/carers of allocated tutees and the intermediary between them and other College staff.
4. Monitor tutee attendance, punctuality, retention and achievement in subjects and other areas.
5. Support tutee progression by development of their skills and oversight of employment or higher education applications and destinations.
6. Make and support appropriate referrals to Student Services and outside specialist agencies.

It is essential that you hold a Level 3 qualification in youth work, teaching, training or a related discipline, together with a Level 2 or higher qualification in English and Maths. You are also required to hold a Level 2 qualification in ICT.
We would expect you to have knowledge of safeguarding young people and vulnerable adults and have experience of working with young people in educational or other settings.
