This is a wonderful opportunity to lead a brand new inclusive and high performing school in Wantage, Oxfordshire. The Kingsgrove housing development is a new and expanding development providing a range of house sizes to suit young couples and growing families, and it needs a school! Oxfordshire Council is commissioning a beautiful school with playing fields, garden areas and good outdoor space. As well as belonging to the local community of schools, GEMS Wantage Primary Academy is part of the GEMS Learning Trust (GLT) network and is founded with the core values and expectations of pupil behaviours that are upheld in all GEMS Learning Trust schools.
We are searching for an exceptional leader, perhaps someone who is ready for headship and eager to shape their school from the very beginning. The Trust offers its heads autonomy and support from day one as well as the opportunity to develop the shared systems and policies we implement across GLT schools. GEMS Wantage Primary Academy is being built to serve its brand new community and will likely start with smaller budgets, lower pupil numbers and mixed classes; so the successful applicant will understand how to design flexible teaching structures and contracts which maximise educational opportunities and outcomes and be willing to take on part time/cover class teaching if required.
We would like the successful candidate to attend marketing events and teacher interviews ahead of starting with the Trust. Such requests will be kept to a minimum. Your current school will be reimbursed for cover if required.
We value and develop all our staff and there are many exciting opportunities in the GLT for leaders to grow and to pursue their talents and professional interests.
The Head Teacher should hold as a minimum, a B.ED or B.A & PGCE / PGDE or equivalent & have at least 4 years’ experience in a Leadership post. Tertiary qualifications such as M.Ed, NPQH / PTC and experience in the sector are desirable.
Closing Date: 12pm 18th September 2019
