The London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, Adult Learning & Skills Service (ALSS) provides over 400 courses to more than 6,000 students locally and London wide. The courses offered are both nationally accredited qualifications and non-accredited courses at various locations throughout the borough.
ALSS is looking to recruit a dynamic, full time Programme Leader for ESOL to further develop the ESOL provision across three centres located across the borough. This role is key in supporting the service to implement the Councils Industrial strategy, with a focus on improving the skills of residents.
To build on the success of the department, to enable residents to improve their English skills and work towards a qualification. Lead on the planning and delivery of qualifications across centres and will be the lead Internal Quality Assurer for the ESOL department. To work with examining bodies and implement examinations throughout the year to enable learners to achieve qualifications. To develop an innovative curriculum to engage residents aligned targets set by the Programme Manager. To line manage established and sessional tutors, conduct observations of teaching and learning, carry out learning walks and assist in the writing the self-assessment report and position statements. To monitor and record learners progress and achievement.
The post holder must: have a Degree or equivalent teaching qualification A proven track record and experience of successful leading a programme of courses. Adult teaching qualification at Level 4 and successful adult teaching experience. Experience of contributing towards curriculum planning and development. Knowledge and understanding of Ofsted, (the Education Inspection Framework EIF). Knowledge of the barriers learners face, preventing them to engage and access learning and training opportunities.

To lead, manage and develop a programme area in a way that it contributes to service priorities and objectives.
• Plan, deliver, assess, evaluate and manage classroom activities so as to maximise learners achievement and success
• Teach an agreed programme of study that utilises a variety of approaches that maximises learners achievement and success
• Negotiate and agree learning outcomes, then monitor, assess, review and record learners progress and achievement
• Provide appropriate pre-course, on-course information, advice and assessment to support learners progress and identify potential next steps
• Ensure learners are correctly enrolled and report their attendance, progress and achievement
