An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Student Support Services Department to work directly with students in making positive change and overcoming their barriers to learning.
We seek a passionate individual with proven experience of working with young people, to motivate and inspire them to overcome these barriers. You will have previous vocational experience of working with young people and have a passion for supporting them to succeed.
You will have experience of developing and delivering personal development sessions to groups, using engaging and motivating methods that demonstrate impact. You will also have an applied knowledge of establishing rapport with young people, who may be vulnerable / disadvantaged, supporting them to engage in specialist provision and working with them 1:1 to achieve their goals.
You will provide guidance, coaching and support to full-time students covering pastoral aspects as well as academic challenges to foster the students progression onto positive destinations. You will have a good understanding of the challenges that students and young people can face, and know how best to support them to fulfil their potential.
To achieve this you will:
- Provide planned and responsive pastoral support for students
- Provide 1:1 support on personal development, behaviour and wellbeing issues
- Deliver a set of compulsory group tutorials on personal development
- Support students in the transition to and from College
- Operate a system of attendance monitoring for a caseload of ‘at risk’ students
The successful candidate will have previous experience and be trained in safeguarding children and/or vulnerable adults.
