Lansdown Park Academy are looking for school governors to join our committed team. We are an Alternative provision for 97 Pupils from KS1 to KS4 across Bristol and BATHNESworking with pupils who have experienced difficulties in accessing mainstream education.
Lansdown Park Academy is part of a Multi Academy Trust, Learn@MAT. This is a unique, expanding trust working primarily with Special Educational Needs pupils – SEMH & SLCN (Social, Emotional Mental Health and Speech Language Communication). At Lansdown Park Academy, the vast majority of young people have been permanently excluded from mainstream education and require an alternative education for a short period of time to support each individual onto their next steps in education – whether back into mainstream or Special Education.
Lansdown Park Academy has been on an exciting journey over the past 4 years with great staff and leaders.
We are now seeking local and amazing people who are interested in what we do, who want to make a difference and would like to join our team in supporting other governors, the Trustees and the Headteacher in the further development of the academy.
We particularly welcome expressions of interest from governors who have experience or an invested interest in Teaching and Learning, Safeguarding or Health and Safety. No previous experience is necessary and we will provide the governing body training in order to undertake their roles.
Time is the biggest attribute that would be valued. We are looking for people who are interested in giving something back to their community and supporting the most challenged young people to fulfil their potential.
+ A governing body meeting x 3 times per year – approximately 3 hours per meeting. Meetings are usually scheduled for the autumn, spring and summer terms.
+ A school visit – approximately x 2 hours per term (x 6 2 hour on site visits).
+ Governor training sessions – initial training, would be around around ½ a day plus other online training (safeguarding / safer recruitment).
I can guarantee that you will not meet a more committed and passionate team who believe in the young people and aim for all our pupils to succeed. As a governor, it would be rewarding and inspiring to be part of this process.
If you feel that 2021 is the year to do something different, then we would love to hear from you.
