We believe that having some school experience is essential if you are considering training to be a teacher; it allows you to see the nature of the role and make sure that it is right for you before you apply or undertake your training. The Howard Partnership Trust is delighted to offer a two-day secondary school experience programme that will benefit anyone considering a career in teaching. Over the two days you will get a glimpse of what it will be like to be a teacher and you will be given information and workshops for you to take your next steps in pursing a teaching qualification.
During your placement you will have the opportunity to:
watch a range of lessons and age groups being taught in your specialist subject
talk to teachers and school leaders about day-to-day school life
find out about career opportunities within the Howard Partnership Trust
get advice from senior leaders on starting a teaching career and the different routes into teaching
Our School Experience programme is hosted by Three Rivers Academy, Hersham Road, Hersham, Walton-On-Thames, Surrey, KT12 5PY. We can offer up to two days of secondary experience Maths, Science, English, MFL (French and Spanish), Drama, Art and Photography, Design & Technology, History, Geography, RS, Sociology, Psychology, Media, Business Studies and PE (inc Dance).
Availability of places is limited by faculty size. We will endeavour to book you in for a visit but cannot guarantee a place. Priority will be given to candidates who have expressed a preference for training on a programme starting in September 2020. We also reserve the right to change dates at short notice.
We charge an administrative fee of £25 for school experience visits. Once you have had confirmation of your dates, payment will be required in advance and is non-refundable.
For safeguarding reasons, all visitors should bring a current DBS certificate which must be shown to reception on the day of the visit. If you do not have a DBS, you will be escorted at all times whilst on the school premises.
