Salary: H7 £28,758 - £31,371, pro rata to hours and weeks worked

Summary of Post
Integra Schools Finance provides a specialist, professional support service covering all areas of financial management to enable schools to fulfil their statutory obligations and strategic functions. The service is commissioned directly by schools.
The post holder is allocated a portfolio of schools (customers) and through visits and office based support, provide School Business Managers, School Finance Staff, Head teachers and Governors with budget setting and budget monitoring support in addition to giving advice and guidance on all school financial matters. The support is typically provided through a range of subscriptions to local authority maintained schools in South Gloucestershire.
The small team of Schools Finance Officers work under the general direction of the Schools Finance Team Leader.

The main duties of the School Finance Officer will include:
Taking responsibility for supporting and advising a number of schools through structured on-site visits, office based support and prompt follow-up on queries to ensure the effective financial management of school resources. This may include attending meetings of managers and/or School Governors as required (including evenings).
Ensuring that schools and budget holders understand and comply with South Gloucestershire’s accounting practices and procedures.
Using budgeting and accounting software to provide budget modelling and basic information (for example pay rates) to assist schools with their budget setting and monitoring. This includes advising schools on recovery plans and staff reduction arrangements as appropriate.
Establishing good working relationships with customers which will enable our high levels of customer care to be maintained and lead to strong standards being established and developed at all levels.
Handling queries via the helpdesk on a rota with other members of the team providing advice and support, and taking ownership for responding to and/or resolving queries and requests from initial contact with the customer.
Providing financial training and support direct to School Business Managers, Finance Admin Staff, Head teachers, and Governors in school as well as leading training for a number of schools.
