Teacher of Science - Permanent Opportunity - September 2020 - Immediate Introduction
This school pays close attention to the well-being and professional development of their staff. They swap notes, share ideas, provide mentoring and offer training to those looking to make the next step in their career. In return they expect everyone who works there to meet the highest professional standards and to take an active role in protecting and promoting the special culture of the school.
In this school the value of their individualised approach to education is most obvious. Their students are on a learning journey from Year 7, aiming to perform as successfully as possible in their GCSEs, and so secure a brighter future for themselves by gaining places at selective Sixth Forms and on to universities or apprenticeships. Each pupil has their own Individual Achievement Plan to ensure that they focus on development both inside and outside the classroom.
There are small class sizes and dedicated pastoral care. At GCSE, pupils achieve an average of over half a grade higher in every subject than predicted by national norms illustrating excellent added value. In 2018, 54% of GCSEs were at grade 7 or above (A or A* in the former grading system) which is real testament to the hard work of students and teachers.
