Science Technician. Part time (20 hours per week). All year round. Permanent.
We are looking to recruit a qualified and experienced biology laboratory technician to join our Science and Humanities department. The role involves the planning, preparation, and support for a range of practical activities for courses at both Level 2 and Level 3, including Access to Higher Education Diplomas, GCSEs and the new T-Level qualifications.
The candidate will have a sound knowledge of working in laboratory conditions in education and ideally, industry settings.
They will possess specialist knowledge in biology and have studied this to A level standard (or equivalent) as a minimum requirement. Although primarily based in biology, there will be some chemistry and physics practicals to assist with as required.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, flexible, and a motivated team player. The candidate will have an eye for detail, the ability to follow detailed instructions and a willingness to learn new skills. The role involves the co-management of a practical calendar and the timely ordering of supplies and equipment to ensure that the teaching team are fully supported. You will be qualified to Level 2 in maths and English and have a Level 3 in Biology or equivalent experience.
A full understanding of safe working practices in line with CLEAPSS and COSHH is essential, as is hazard management. For further details please refer to the job description.
