Sefton Park Infant and Junior Schools are federated Infant and Junior Schools. We wish to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant with experience of supporting children with special educational needs. Our schools are a dynamic, supportive and happy place to work.
Start date: As soon as possible
Salary: BG5 (£18,933 - £19,312 pa, pro rata)
Contract: Part time, term time only plus inset days and fixed term until 31/07/2021
Working pattern: 35 hours per week to be worked over Monday-Friday 8.30am-4.00pm with 30 minutes unpaid lunchbreak
We are looking to appoint a dedicated individual work as part of the Year 1 team, mainly supporting a delightful child with complex needs. The successful candidate will have experience of supporting children with SEND and will be experienced and confident in supporting areas of need including:
- Social communication differences and difficulties
- Single channelled attention
- Engaging in adult led activities
- Social play skills
- Emotional regulation
- Heightened sensory responses
- Self-care and independence skills (including intimate care)
A working knowledge of PECs/Makaton would also be desirable.
The successful candidate will be caring and nurturing and will have a passion for setting high expectations and aspirations for all children and especially those with SEND. Experience of planning and differentiating a curriculum to support different children’s needs is desirable. The ability to think on your feet and be flexible are characteristics which will come naturally to you. You will also have an understanding of how to support children’s emotional development, and can build good relationships with both adults and children.
