We are a Federation of two Outstanding schools for pupils with severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties, some with associated autistic spectrum disorder. Manor Mead is our Primary School in Shepperton for 4-11 year olds; our Secondary School, Walton Leigh, for 11-19 year olds is in
Walton-on-Thames. Successful candidates will enjoy the benefits of The Federation of Manor Mead and Walton Leigh Schools, which provides valuable opportunities for sharing of best practice, excellent professional development support and career progression.
We have vacancies at both schools from September 2020 and welcome applications from NQTs. Successful candidates will be supported within the class by a senior teaching assistant and a team of teaching assistants and more widely by a senior management team with many years’ experience and an excellent understanding of the rewards and challenges of teaching in a special school. You will also be collaborating with parents, therapists, specialist teachers and other professionals to support our pupils’ diverse needs and enable them to learn and make progress. You will have responsibility for a curriculum area (unless you are an NQT) which will be agreed on appointment.
Manor Mead School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Following the procedures recommended to safeguard children, we will be taking up references if you are shortlisted for an interview. The successful applicant will be required to undertake a DBS check.

Walton Leigh School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to demonstrably share this commitment.
Walton Leigh School believes that it is always unacceptable for a child to experience abuse of any kind. We recognise our responsibility to safeguard the welfare of all children.
We will provide staff and volunteers with guidance to follow when they suspect a child may be experiencing abuse or may be at risk of harm. We will work co-operatively with other agencies to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.
The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Annie Paget (Head of Secondary School).
The Deputy DSL is Neil French (Deputy Head of School).
